makulay ang buhay...

since i've started getting hooked on this biking thing, i also started to check out the "world cup" of biking, the Tour de France.

last year's version was colorful in the sense that one team, Astana,  had 2 powerhouse riders in its fold, namely lance armstrong and alberto contador, fighting for the top spot.

lance: berto, mahuli, may t@e sa pwet! contador: ahh, ganon ha.

since their rift grew stronger, lance then decided to bolt out of Astana, and eventually formed his own team, Radioshack.
their break-up lead to this team's formation.

anyway, lets go back to my makulay na buhay kwento...

as i was watching the Tour de France live streams, i kept on hearing about jerseys having colors such as YELLOW, GREEN, POLKA DOT, WHITE, etc. so i asked some of my hardcore biking friends about these colors/designs.  eventually i was enlightened and i would like to share these "new" learnings i've got ;)

the Yellow jersey
If you are in it, you are the overall race leader on aggregate time since the start of the Tour. It often changes backs a few times, particularly during the early flat stages of a Tour. in short, ikaw ang leading. Pero this can still change. (so feeling ko lahat ng teams eh merong gawa nang yellow jersey with their design etc just in case manalo sila sa overall time per stage, and eventually overall nga :)

magandang umaga po, di po ako sanay sa ganitong kulay, di ata terno sa balat ko ang yellow, nakaka itim? hahaha

the Green jersey
The sprinter's prize goes to the most consistent stage finisher and is normally worn by one of the big powerhouses of the field. With a sliding scale of points available to the first finishers on any day, contenders for this jersey bunch at the front of the peloton for dangerous sprints on flat stages. They just try to survive the mountains

last year's green & yellow jerseys
the White jersey
This goes to the best placed under-26 rider in the general classification.   simply put, the youngest rider?

andy schleck after winning stage 8 of 2010 Tour de France.

the Polkadot jersey
King of the Mountains contenders live for the climbs. They tend to be slimmer in build and bounce up slopes to pick up the points on offer to the first riders over every hill.

meron pa ngang rainbow at kung ano pang ibang kulay, pero i won't discuss them na muna, since wala akong makitang may rainbow jersey, at sabi sa site na pinagkunan ko ng info, eh walang rainbow jersey ata sa TdF :)

happy reading!:)

i hope andy schleck wins this year's tour de france, para di na magyabang si contador ;)
and para hindi asa spain lahat (wimbledon, world cup, at tour de france)

why do i hate mizuno

Mizuno sucks. BIG TIME. yup. you read that right. why? point #1: they are not a mainstream brand. mainstream in a sense that they don't even ha ve well-known product endorsers unlike other sports brands around the world. i mean, how can they expect their products to sell like pancakes if the y're like that diba? point #2: they do not promote much of themselves. not much print ads if you'd ask me. i work in a magazine publishing company and i don't see mu ch of their products splashed all over our magazines. i don't see them havi ng television ads too. not even in the newspapers does mizuno have anything that will lead people to buy their products. point #3: the products are not that "fashionable." as compared to other "mainstream" brands, you won't see you r regular juans and marias weari ng mizunos together with their jeans to the office. you don't see them usually wearing mizuno s when they go around the malls, walking, shopping, chilli

virgin no more

people say that it's painful when you do it for the first time. a lot of my friends have done it way ahead before me.  people have been telling since mid-2009 that i should already try to do it.  i've always thought of doing this when i feel I'm ready for it, to commit to it.  I didn't want to do something I would eventually regret. doing this entails responsibility, and commitment, and would be really time-consuming.   let's begin with the end when i started seriously running at last year's Condura Run, I never imagined thinking of ever running a full marathon in the near future. after that condura run, i started training for 10K races, then slowly leveling up to having LSDs and 15K and 10milers, and eventually had my first half marathon at Botak Paatibayan in May 2009. during that race, i witnessed how a not so "well-organized" full marathon that packed up everything way before the "cut-off" when the race didn't even have a cut-o

want to know what's behind the WAVE?

there are a lot in store from Mizuno this summer.  1. Other than the upcoming Infinity Run on April 11, there will be a trail run  co-sponsored by Tagaytay Highlands by April 25.  2. an exciting race in an exciting race venue! Sick and tired of having your usual races in the most common race venues? wait for another exciting race from Mizuno that features one of takbo.ph members' playground . Yes, there is a race outside BHS, The Fort/ McKinley, UP and MOA, Roxas Blvd. Another exciting race from Mizuno will be held in ORTIGAS! yup, you've read that right. another race venue which no race organizer has touched (recently hehe). As early as now, start your training in the dreaded St Martin and St.Paul hills, as these are where speed mamaws are made! :)  oh, and these are just the beginning. 3.oh yeah, did i mention that Mizuno Trail Shoes are coming to the Philippines? :)  (well i guess this means they've read my Mizuno blog . hahaha) (thank you jai and the gals of
