redefining PR

it has been 2 weeks since the most anticipated takbo.ph runfest anniversary run and up until now, i still am grateful for that this group of people have given me.

before, running was thought to be a boring sport. it was not even much given attention to by non-athletic people (or even siguro the other athletes, i'm not sure though) except for track stars siguro. basta, before, running was not an "in" thing.

lately, there have been a lot of 'minor' issues with running, most specially with the increase of registration fees, deaths, overcrowding, cheaters, etc. but despite all of these reklamos we hear from people, we always see them naman in these races they complain about. labo diba? you complain but at the end of the day, you'd still register kahit na wala nang pera (guilty ka noh?! hahaha!)

teka, off topic na ako.

ayun. after mizuno infinity run, i haven't joined any races. why? maybe because of the influx of newbies gathering at every opportunity to join a race no matter how the reg fees have gone super high. or maybe because the races seemed too "boring" at times primarily because of the same venue EVERY WEEKEND races. or maybe i've been bitten by the multisport bug and have been devoting more time to strengthen my weak points in the other sports. or maybe because the FUN in FUN RUNS have died out.

i said to myself i would run takbo.ph's runfest to celebrate.

celebrate what running is for me.

running is freedom from worries

running is time to bond with friends (both old and new)

running provides entertainment and relaxation

running is takbo.

for this race, i didn't train. i didn't exert a PR run as what i would usually try to do in 10K runs.

why? because not all the time running has to involve much thought about time or personal records.

running is about enjoying what you have now, seeing friends you haven't seen for a long time as if it wasn't months since you last saw them.

in this race a Personal Record is not the main focus.

The PR that was improved in this race was PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS :)

and in my opinion, that's the most important PR :)

why do i hate mizuno

Mizuno sucks. BIG TIME. yup. you read that right. why? point #1: they are not a mainstream brand. mainstream in a sense that they don't even ha ve well-known product endorsers unlike other sports brands around the world. i mean, how can they expect their products to sell like pancakes if the y're like that diba? point #2: they do not promote much of themselves. not much print ads if you'd ask me. i work in a magazine publishing company and i don't see mu ch of their products splashed all over our magazines. i don't see them havi ng television ads too. not even in the newspapers does mizuno have anything that will lead people to buy their products. point #3: the products are not that "fashionable." as compared to other "mainstream" brands, you won't see you r regular juans and marias weari ng mizunos together with their jeans to the office. you don't see them usually wearing mizuno s when they go around the malls, walking, shopping, chilli

virgin no more

people say that it's painful when you do it for the first time. a lot of my friends have done it way ahead before me.  people have been telling since mid-2009 that i should already try to do it.  i've always thought of doing this when i feel I'm ready for it, to commit to it.  I didn't want to do something I would eventually regret. doing this entails responsibility, and commitment, and would be really time-consuming.   let's begin with the end when i started seriously running at last year's Condura Run, I never imagined thinking of ever running a full marathon in the near future. after that condura run, i started training for 10K races, then slowly leveling up to having LSDs and 15K and 10milers, and eventually had my first half marathon at Botak Paatibayan in May 2009. during that race, i witnessed how a not so "well-organized" full marathon that packed up everything way before the "cut-off" when the race didn't even have a cut-o

can you ENDURE the HEAT?

PERO sabi nila, lamang pa rin ang ULTRAS kumpara sa TRI.  yung iba naman, gustuhin mang mag TRI eh nag iipon pa rin para sa bike. eh paano naman ung gusto lang mag multisport? san sila sasali?  bakit naman sila sasali dito?  this event was conceived primarily to serve as simulation for those joining the Ateneo Aquathlon slated on March 20, 2011. in line with the team's partnership with Microwarehouse, the official distributor of Blackberries in the Philippines, the team decided to make it open to the public as a way of sharing to the public the joys of multisport. Here is the write up from the organizers (which i am also a team member :) )  ENDURE is a budding triathlon tea
