let's celebrate running

running has been my way to destress. while other people vent their stress out via drinking, smoking or doing some other things that will be damaging to their bodies in the long run, i do physical activities, such as running.

the times have changed nowadays. i've seen a lot of newbie runners who are overeager to level up with their run distances without proper training or mileage, most of them become injured in the long run. and as a result, think that running is not for them. i don't mind people being Type A with their personal bests, but then again, they should be blaming their activities eh at the end of the day, it's still their decision to do that diba?

anyway, why run? for me running is a celebration.

it's a celebration that after having ACL reconstructive surgery way back 2004, i am now able to do fun runs, marathons and multisport events (aquathlon and triathlon pa lang naman so far) kasi diba before they put a big deal with ACL patients na parang exag ung reactions (take for example nung si Larry Fonacier na ACL injury nung UAAP days, akala nila di makababalik, pero when he got back he was stronger than before).

it's also a celebration life. bakit kamo? sa palagay nyo ba being overweight/obese would help prolong your life? or even make you enjoy life in the long run (where all the after effects of your health is taking its toll on your body?) shempre hindi rin diba?)

doing diets also for me ha, is not the ONLY way to go. it will always the well-balanced eating habits. depriving yourself of certain nutrients will YES, lower your weight/mass whatever you might want to call it, but also, it might weaken your bodies in the long run. throughout the years i've realized and understood that deprivation is not the answer. proper nutrition is.

so anong point ko?

dapat tamang balance ng proper nutrition (which includes tamang amounts of macro and micro nutrients), and exercise (i.e. running).

I highly encourage you to join me (and my rubus- running buddies) in celebrating running with Takbo.ph's Runfest 2014.

Ateneo Aquathlon through the years

so far, i've had 3 ateneo aquathlons in my entire life (so far, but i intend to do more ha!) and luckily, i have been photographed in all three events.

let's see how i looked like through the years.
2011.                                                          2013.                                                          2014.

what's the verdict?

i guess i have to order the team's newest uniform huh? :)

bagay naman the new uniform diba? :)

Challenge Overview

it has been a while since i last joined any triathlon. the last solo i did was still a mini-sprint way back 2010 if i'm not mistaken. after that, i've done one aquathlon last 2013,  and a few fun runs in between.

when the opportunity to join the relay team for the inaugural Challenge Philippines came up,  I was still a bit hesitant as i was not focused on swimming, biking or running at that time as i have been busy with work (so who else is not naman diba?) but after consultation with my teammates, i gave in. I decided to be the relay runner.

ENDURE GOOD BOYS Relay Team

how did i train for the 21K run leg?

being a runner, i felt that i can easily wing this thing. i've done that before in the past, i just have to make sure i get to run 3x a week, 1x at the super least, pero on the average i got to run naman 2x a week more often than not being able to run.  on top of that, i decided to incorporate Insanity pa! parang pang hardcore lang diba, pero in fairness, i felt the difference kahit papaano of doing Insanity. core got tighter, quads were a bit bigger hahaha!

on top of that, I also went running along my favorite highway in the country, my own 'playground', Commonwealth Ave. sabi nila, rolling daw ung route, ehhh ano bang malapit na rolling na malapit sa amin?

#likeaboss #likeanultrarunner #heat #training sunugan to.

sabi nila, HILLY ung run route.

sabi din sa race briefing, it's gonna be 'downhill' after KM15.

i'm a huge fan of simplicity, with a tinge of surprise. normally i would be attracted to dominantly blue bikes, but this one, gives the necessary oomph that i usually look for. (this criteria applies to all ha). simple yet has that accent that will make you take another look at it. i am the type of person who prefers something (or someone) you'd get bored easily after staring at it for a long period. yung hindi nakakaumay pag tumagal. (same with girls, i don't like girls who are "WOAH" at first look, but eventually i'd realize that after staring at them for a long time, i'd get sawa all of a sudden.
from a far you'd think that this bike is just your typical black with accent bike.

i'm not the one who'd like a super expensive bike (well, this one is kinda expensive as well, pero hindi naman super expensive hahaha!), but this one, would be worth it.

simple pero rock.

what have i been doing these past few months

it has been a while since i last posted here. there have been a lot of things going on with my life, add to that the fact that, i'm not even sure if there are still people reading running blogs that have personal insights. (as i've been telling my friends who i've been running with since 2009 [yes, it has been ages since i started into this addiction called running], most of the so-called running blogs nowadays are just people re-posting press releases, as compared to the time when i started blogging).

so, what have i been doing lately?

earlier this year, i had my 3rd Condura FM.

my mizuno elixir's first full mary

Also, I was able to do my 2nd Ateneo Aquathlon.

sa mapula or sa maputi?
"face off" for fun bet during our teammate's farewell breakfast
ateneo aquathlon
my 1st multisport for the year
based on the facial reaction, i believe you'd get how the race was :)
lack of pool time was the culprit hahaha!
Despite my busy schedule, I was also able to participate in some runs.

goofing around with Team CB's Bilz & Daie Juanting at the start of MC Cool Run

Post-race pics with officemates/#TeamAlmostThere
As tradition, I have been given the privilege to run during the Takbo Runfest, also known as Takbo.ph's Anniversary.

It's been a while since I ran 21K (obvious ba sa mukha? :) )
Finally. natapos ko din.
And in fairness, 2:29 finish time for someone 'rusty'
I've been also able to run the RUPM 2013.

one of the rare moments i was seen or had a picture during the race.
first time in a long time to wear mizunos during race.
On top of these limited races, I've been around a few road races and multisport events as part of my work.

1) BDO Race for Life

first time to be on stage, as a presenter.

2) 2013 Tri United 2

with Timmy Dadia.

3) Cebu Ironman 70.3

Last year, I said to myself, I would be in Cebu for my 30th birthday. Fortunately, I was assigned to attend this year's Ironman 70.3.

4) Cebu Radio Tour
As part of my work in Cebu, I represented my brand during the launch in Cebu. I toured 3 radio stations during my short stay there.

5) 2013 SCTEX Duathlon

instead of competing, i was limited to manning the booth and giving out premium items.

So what's next for me?

This.

it's been a while

hello. this is still timmy's blog. I know it has been 2 years since i've last written on this blog, primarily because there have...
